Birds. Yes, birds. Some people may find them scary, or mechanical, or have flashbacks to Hitchcock movies….but I love them. To me they are like flowers, delicate and enamouring. Fleeting in their beauty, a’light on the breezy.
That is why I am calling for owls in general to please have a fashion moment. I get that foxes are so IN right now, and I LOVE foxy things…but I think the hooters should be next.
Yesterday I proceeded to gush over the Beaujolais-soaked dark heart of his “Sur Mesure” collection. Reminiscent of boudoir attire, they drip with delicate detail…but today is another day. In the light of morning everything is bathed in dreamy, sparkling sunshine.
In his “Mariee” collection he explores the angelic themes of a wedding couture. The lace in this instance feeling more innocent and gold/silver embellishment echoing bridal radiance.
Ankle skirting lace with that glowing bride thing going on.
We’ve all seen Vicente Rey shoes on Pinterest… always looking impossibly delicate. Like a misplaced breathe would certainly strip the feathers or turn the lace to sparkly dust. Like a true couturier his works are only on display in Paris and Barcelona and his online presence is nearly null.
For this post, I thought I would highlight his drool worthy, red wine bodied, darker side.
A delicate feather tendril reaching up the ankle.
He is a master of feathered sculpting and a well balanced design.
Lace framing the foot artfully.
I can only think that to strut in one of his skinny-heeled marvels would be a risk that even the most street wary lady would happily welcome.
I used to occasionally blog on another site “Notta Purse Girl” in my very “spare” time. “Spare,” not because I lack free time, but because I can tend to be lazy when I get home from work. Anyway, I am going to mosey my random shoe musings this-a way. I cannot guarantee I will blog with any regularity or that my grammar will be tolerable; I am a biologist, not an English major! But (<-already with the bad grammar) I will always be weird, funny, and at least a little entertaining. With that I begin…
As I do every morning, I was sneakily perusing the Rue La La sales at work and I noticed some inspiring sandals by Yves Saint Laurant.
Yves Saint Laurent “Tribute”
I was struck by the the simple but thoughtful design elements that composed the sandal. The way that the leather is cut and curved, reinforcing the other straps (Yes, I am aware that I am just talking about sandals) was very well executed.

It is always my belief that mindful design deserves acknowledgement, and this is a good representation of that philosophy. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a hot pink jelly sandal as much as the next girl but when someone has spent time making a design elegant (like a calculus problem, not like an evening shoe) than I am impressed. Hats off YSL.
